I Love This City!

So elaborating and adding to Sean... Today was a great day. Our first full day in Greece. We had breakfast are a cafe across from the hostel. I had a great chocolate croissant and orange juice. I want another one tomorrow morning. We stopped at some mueseum and walked around in their pretty courtyard and filled our water bottles in their fountain. We never went in though. Then we walked to the Parliament to see the changing of the guards, but we never got to see it cause there was some ceremony going on that was celebrating Greece's liberation from Germany in WWII. It was lame. So we went to the National Gardens right next to the Parliament. They were gorgeous! Except every once in a while a nasty mushroom scent would fill my mouth and nose and nearly enduce vomiting. After that we saw the staduim that held the first modern Olympics in 1896. Then we headed for Plaka, and passed the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arc. Plaka ws very cool. It is part to the ancient city and there are lots of spots of excavated ancient athens to see. Plaka has small narrow streets, many of which are only for walking (and scooters because they go everywhere). There were lots of souvenier shops there. Eric and I bought a small backgammon set, but the pieces are WAY to big for the board. We ate amazing gyros for lunch. They were much better than yesterdays. On the way back to the hostel, we stopped at the Central Market and wandered around. It was nasty. There was carcasses hanging everywhere, with any body part you can ever wish to eat, and all the Greek men were standing in the aisle hacking at body parts. At least the meat was fresh. I also saw a 1L can of dog food. It was so huge. I didn't read how big it was, but I am sure it was close to 1L. LOL. Then we came back to the hostel for naps, showers and reading. At 6:30 we searched for a place for supper. We ate at a sit down restaurant. We started with bread that we soaked in oil and vinegar. Sooo yummy. Then I had a Greek salad that was really good, and chicken slouvaki that was not so good. It was bland and had lots of tiny bones in it. After the meal, we were getting up to pay and the man waved for us to sit down and brought us some fresh honeydew melon that was very good. Then we came back to the hostel, and it is almost bedtime. We have to get up at 6 to make it to the ferry at 7:30 for Santorini! I can't wait to be there. It is going to be great!!! I really wish I could post some pictures... I am temped to take the tape off these USB ports. I also need to go pack my bag so I don't have to do it in the morning.
